The Sagrada Familia, Gaudi’s most famous architectural accomplishment, is truly awe inspiring. If you see one thing in Barcelona it should be this. While it still is not completed after over 100 years of building (estimated completion date is 2026), much of the façade is finished and the interior is accessible and intact. The architecture is crazy with a planned 18 spires, all lavishly decorated with engravings, multiple impressive entrances, and an interior that plays with light and color making you feel more like you’re inside a forest than a church. It’s one of the most incredible architectural marvels in the world – we honestly don’t think any written description can do it justice. A guided tour of the church is helpful, though you can purchase an audio tour with your ticket. Get tickets ahead of time!!!
