Manzanar National Historic Site Visitor Center

Visit this remarkable center to learn about the Japanese Internment in the United States during WWII. In 1942 the United States government ordered more than 110,000 people to leave their homes and detained them in remote, military-style camps. Manzanar War Relocation Center was one of ten camps which incarcerated Japanese immigrants and Japanese American citizens during the war. Explore the museum first, then the barracks where they were housed and reflect on a terrible and senseless part of American history.
