Chateau de Beynac

This castle perches 500 feet above the Dordogne River and offers many sparse, intact rooms with fantastic views of the countryside. The French made their home here during the Hundred Years’ War. You’ll wander the rooms towers feeling like you’re a medieval night surveying the English across the way in Castlenaud – it really does invoke an impressive feeling. Richard the Lionheart actually spent 10 years here. We’d recommend the audioguide as its hard to know what you’re looking at.
