The Dabney serves up some of the best food we’ve ever had in a cozy setting that’s lots of fun. The Mid-Atlantic cuisine, featuring a huge wood grill, is fantastic, as are the cocktails and wine list. We used to say that The Dabney offered Michelin quality food for a reasonable price, but, though they’ve retained the Michelin star and the food is as good as ever, the restaurant moved to a fixed-price menu and now offers a six-course tasting menu for $186/person in the main dining area and a three-course menu for $95/person at the bar. It’s now firmly planted in the upscale restaurant echelon.
The move to a fixed-price menu is unfortunate for two reasons. First, it’s more expensive. Second, it reduces your options; the restaurant used to offer an excellent (and frequently-changing) mix of small plates that were fun to share so you could try a wide variety of incredible food. We still recommend The Dabney without hesitation, but you need to be ready to splurge for an expensive meal.
You’ll need a reservation (and they don’t take parties larger than six); make your reservation through Resy. If you’re looking for a spot on a Friday or Saturday evening, you should book as soon as reservations become available—noon two weeks before you wish to dine.
