Maybe you think it’s strange to enter a museum for lunch, but Café Sabarsky is well worth it. You don’t actually need a ticket for the museum to eat in it’s charming cafe (though it’s a small but wonderful museum filled with German and Austrian art – including a great Klimt collection). The restaurant itself is inspired by the great Viennese cafés that served as centers of intellectual and artistic life at the turn of the century. Filled with period objects including lighting, furniture, and a Bösendorfer grand piano, you can enjoy this elegant and under-the-radar cafe with a nod to Austrian fare. Feel like you’re dining in 20th century Vienna. If it’s winter don’t miss the Gluhwein (German spiced red win) or their very tempting desserts.
