Epice means “spice” and spices are the headliner here. Epice has been voted the best restaurant in Africa and was one of the most memorable meals we have had. Michelin has not made it to South Africa yet but when they do expect a coupe of stars for this place.

The spectacular UNESCO world heritage Kirstenbosch Botanical gardens are enormous (1300 acres) and feature the diverse beautiful, and unique flora of South Africa is spread out along the east slopes of Table Mountain. Allow at least a couple of hours.

What a great concept – the wine tram runs along tracks in the Franschhoek valley or buses to wineries not on the line – so you can easily visit a lot of wineries for tasting and not need to drive. Multiple departures all day and many wineries to visit.
