Zion National Park

American National Parks are amazing places and this is one of our favorites. Unlike the Grand Canyon where you marvel from above in this one you enter the heart of the canyon and marvel at the thousands of feet of red sandstone from below. The park does a nice job of traffic control with a shuttle service that takes visitors into the valley. Unless staying at the Zion park lodge you will need to park in the lot and ride a shuttle. There are many convenient accommodations ijust outside the entrance in Springdale.

Be sure and get out and hike around. Favorite hikes include Angels Rest, The Narrows, Lower Emerald Pool Trail, Hidden Canyon Trail.

Also be sure and take highway 9 – the Zion Mt Carmel highway east. The road climbs in tunnels cut into the sandstone. Stop at the Canyon Overlook parking area top and walk along pine creek 1/2 mile to a specular overlook of West Temple and Street Wall formations.
