If you want to get the feel of NYC in one setting, head to Times Square. The sheer number of people combined with thousands of cabs and giant billboards lit up on the sides of skyscrapers advertising Broadway shows can be overwhelming, but gives you the experience of NYC out of a movie. Absolutely make the visit at night for the full effect – it’s perfectly safe, just beware of pickpockets. From here you’re in the heart of the Theatre District and it’s a great launching off point to catch a show. We recommend staying away from the restaurants right on the square (they’re overpriced and mediocre at best) and instead heading to the side streets or over to Hell’s Kitchen to find better options.
