By far the most impressive church in Scandinavia. Dubbed “Denmark’s Westminster Abbey,” Roskilde Cathedral dates from the 1100s and is the burial place for the royal family; 40 kings and queens of Denmark are buried here. The church itself is enormous and beautifully decorated. Several chapels and crypts extend from the main hall, and each contains marble sarcophagi or covered coffins.
