Panama Viejo

Panama Viejo hosts the ruins of the original Panama City founded in 1519 by Spanish conquistadors and the first European settlement on the Pacific. As a UNESCO world heritage site in the middle of a residential neighborhood you can wander the ruins and explore the small but informative museum. Given that there are very few signs, a tour is especially helpful of the ruins. Most companies will custom design one for you, but we especially recommend pairing it with a tour of the Miraflores Locks and Amador Causeway.
