If you see one thing in Mostar it should be this. This is Mostar’s iconic site, a bridge originally built over 400 years ago by the Ottoman’s which was destroyed in the 1990s war by shelling. They tried to rebuild it in the early 2000s with the original stones dredged from the river but could not. Instead it was rebuilt from stone from the same quarry as the original and overseen by UNESCO. Locals in the “Divers Club” jump the 75 feet off the bridge into the freezing water below to avid applause by tourists watching.
