Set among cliffs in southern Colorado Mesa Verde is a UNESCO world heritage site which preserves some truly impressive cliff dwellings from the ancestral Pueblo people who lived here 700 years ago. It is well worth a visit as you can take tours and actually explore some of the dwellings.
For a list of tours click here. We recommend booking in advance. Both cliff palace and long house are well worthwhile – we recommend doing both. For the adventurous and fit there are guided backcountry hikes to more remote dwellings as well.
