This is a cellar with a variety of wines for tasting directly across from the Hotel Dieu. When we first came here it was back in the early 80’s and it was a great deal – they must have had 50 wines set up on barrels in an old wine cave and you made your way along tasting (and spitting if you wanted to make it to the end). The wines kept getting better the further you went so the next time we were there we started at the far end and worked back.
Over the years the prices have gone up and the number of wines have gone down so we’re not sure it’s quite the deal it was, but it’s still a fun and easy introduction to Burgundy wines and generally you don’t need a reservation and there is no pressure to buy any bottles.
