Lipica Stud Farm

The Lipica Stud Farm is in a beautiful setting, with even more beautiful horses. Founded in 1580, the horses were raised for the Habsburgs in Vienna. Tour the Lipizzaner stables to see the horses and learn how they are raised and trained and get a chance to see them train or perform (they have a unique routine exclusive to these horses).  The one hour tour, which was extremely informative (who knew that the foals are born dark brown, and over 4-6 years turn white). You can also opt for a horseback ride, carriage ride, or catch a show if you time it right. They also have a lovely picnic area. Note, on Mondays in the summer the horses don’t train or perform.

Hours for the farm: 10:00-17:00 (tours are usually on the hour)
