This center not only offers an exact replica of the most famous cave paintings in the world, it also offers an interactive center about cave paintings. This offers a replica of polychrome (multicolor) paintings–the only real ones you can see are at Grotte de Font-de-Gaume with no assurance you’ll actually get in to see them. Why can’t you go into the real cavs? During their heyday from 1948-1963 over a million people visited and the art began to deteriorate so they were closed. This is a massive center that offers a great introduction to cave art as a whole and reproductions of 100% of the original cave. You start with a 40 minute tour and then proceed to the interactive area. Make sure to book in advance online for tickets (especially for a tour in English).
