Glastonbury Abbey

The massive ruins of this ancient abbey occupy 36 acres and was purportedly founded when Joseph of Arimathea brought the holy grail here in AD 37. Later this was supposedly the home of King Arthur. The monastery was destroyed in 1536 by Henry VIII during the dissolution of the monasteries. Today these massive ruins have a small museum and guides in period costume. This is a great police to grab a picnic lunch among the scenic ruins.
