Drottningholm Palace

Known as “Sweden’s Versailles,” Drottningholm Palace is an enormous and stunningly beautiful palace that mixes baroque, rococo, and neoclassical styles. It was built in the seventeenth century and is still used by the royal family. The palace is massive and imposing, with sprawling gardens behind and a lake in front. You are permitted to explore the palace on your own, but we recommend buying a ticket for the guided tour so you can learn about the building, its history, and the royal family during your visit. Be sure to save some time to wander through the gardens.

Hours: Open most Saturdays and Sundays 10-4, closed for special state occasions.

Admission: Included in Stockholm Pass. Adults $15; Students and children under 18 $8; guided tour an additional $3.50 per person.
