One of Sicily’s best-known tourist attractions, this Norman cathedral sits atop a hill above Palermo, the island’s capital and largest city. While it’s definitely worth a visit, we didn’t find it quite as impressive as Capella Palantina. If you do visit Monreale, we think it’s worth paying a few extra Euro to walk the terraces for beautiful views of Palermo and the ocean, and the cloisters are worth your time as well.
