No, this is not Barcelona’s most famous cathedral – that honor goes to Sagrada Familia – but this is Barcelona’s huge Gothic cathedral from the 14th century (minus the 19th century facade) which played a significant part in the history of the city. It’s actually been a holy spot in Barcelona for over 2000 years through a Roman temple, pagan temple, and finally Christian cathedral. It has a lovely interior with 28 chapels, pretty cloister, and the views from the rooftop terrace are wonderful. Located in the heart of the Gothic quarter it’s a nice stop either on a ramble through the area or while visiting the nearby Picasso museum.
