The 9/11 Memorial and Museum is a tribute to the events that affected the United States when 2 airplanes crashed into the twin towers of the World Trade Center in NYC on 9/11/2001. Built on the same site, the new building and park has two reflecting pools that span the original dimensions of the Twin Towers. Bronze panels along the pools are inscribed with the names of the 3000 people who died in the terrorist attacks on 9/11/2001 and the car bombing on 2/26/1993. Right next to the memorial is the National September 11 Memorial Museum which is a collection of artifacts, video, and photography about the events surrounding that day and stories of those impacted afterwards. Upon walking in you can see two 70 foot hight steel tridents which was part of the original North Tower, a staircase used by hundreds of people to flee the site, an original retaining wall, and a steel column with messages, missing person posters, and mementos. The In Memoriam exhibit involves walls with the names and photos of those who perished as well as touch screens to learn more about them. You can purchase tickets ahead online or at a vending machine outside of the building to skip the line.
