This is your opportunity for an excursion on horseback during your trip to the arctic. Your guide will take you to the stables where you’ll meet some friendly Icelandic horses. Then you’ll ride out to west of Longyearbyen, where you’ll see some remarkable views of the outlying islands and glaciers. On your ride back to the stables, you’ll have a chance to try the Icelandic horses’ unique gait, the tölt. Then you’ll groom your horse and say goodbye. This is a fun half-day trip, and you’ll love it if you enjoy riding. Your guide will do a good job customizing the trip to your comfort level, whether you’re a beginner or an expert rider. However, don’t expect a secluded ride through the arctic wilderness; your route will just be a large loop around Longyearbyen airport.
