Suomenlinna is an island off of Helsinki. It’s the site of a fortress built in 1748 to protect Finland’s capital from Russian aggression. The island is beautiful, and you should be sure to take the ferry out to the island and spend a morning or afternoon walking around the trails and exploring its shops and museums.
