On the south Bank of the Thames near the site of the original Globe Theater this historically accurate replica theater offer tours but also evening plays. The original Globe Theatre was where many of William Shakespeare’s plays were first staged and burned down during a 1613 performance of Henry VIII. You can book a seat or revisit your peasant roots and stand as a “groundling” (a very inexpensive option) . Plays by the Royal Shakespeare Company are offered from April through October. Arrive early and get a place at the front to lean your elbows on the stage. Advance tickets recommended.
