Sandia Peak Tramway

Just about a twenty minute drive from downtown Albuquerque, the Sandia Peak Tramway will take you to the top of Sandia Peak, which towers over the city at an elevation of about 10,300 feet. The views are incredible, and there are hiking trails up top as well.

Sunset over Albuquerque from Sandia Peak

There are restaurants both at the top and bottom of the tram. Sandiago’s is at the base, and the newly opened Ten 3 is at the top. Ten 3’s setting and view are unbeatable, but prices are very high for Albuquerque, and the food is good but not great. Ten 3’s main dining room has a great view over Albuquerque, but you’ll need a reservation (the restaurant is pretty small). You may be able to sit in the bar area without a reservation, but the isn’t nearly as nice.

If you don’t have a car, an Uber or Lyft to the tram will probably run you $20-$25 each way. Alternatively, you can book the TRAMSporter, a bus that picks up a hotels in three Albuquerque locations, for about $50, a price that includes a round-trip tram ticket. If you’re by yourself, the bus is a better option, but if you have 2 or more people, it’s cheaper and probably more convenient to grab a Lyft or Uber.
