In the fall, this scenic byway (one of the first in the nation) provides a spectacular passage through the white mountains of New Hampshire. There are a lot of stops along the way but also a lot of other leaf peepers so parking can be challenging at some of the more popular sites. We recommend an early start to try and beat some of the crowds and plan on making multiple stops for short hikes, covered bridges, waterfalls, etc.
