The walk across the Brooklyn Bridge into or out of Manhattan is delightful at 1.3 miles long. The bridge itself was the world’s first steel suspension bridge and was the longest in the world when it opened in 1883. It’s bicycle and pedestrian walkway offers amazing views of Manhattan, the East River, and Brooklyn’s waterfront. From Brooklyn, the Pedestrian Walkway begins at the intersection of Tillary Street and Boerum Place. The second way to get onto the walkway is to access it via the underpass on Washington Street, about two blocks from Front Street in Brooklyn. From Manhattan, the entrance begins just across from the northeast corner of City Hall Park along Centre Street.
