Visit the most recognizable part of Lake Bled, Bled Island in the middle of the Lake. On this island sits the Church of the Mother of God (17th century), the bell-tower, a chaplain’s house, and small hermitage. The church started as a small wooden chapel before being renovated many times over the centuries. Climb the 99 stone steps up the church. There is a tradition that the groom should carry his bride up all the 99 steps in order to be worthy to marry (good luck convincing your partner to try it). The church is pretty understated, but has a golden baroque alter, frescoes, and the Stations of the Cross displayed. Ring the wishing bell in the tower for luck.
